The majority of the Icelandic population is far from pleased with its government. Prime Minister Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson gets the highest disapproval rating (65 percent), closely followed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson (63 percent).
The highest approval rating went to the Minister of Health, Kristján Þór Júlíusson (33 percent) and Eygló Harðardóttir, Minister of Welfare (32 percent).
These are the results of a new national poll conducted by Gallup. Mbl.is reports this today.
This is the first time since the term began that its approval rating is surveyed. The last poll was conducted in 2012, measuring the approval ratings of the former government, which consisted of the Social Democratic Alliance and the Left Greens. The new poll reveals that more people are displeased with the government‘s performance now than they were then.
A total of 51 percent said that they were unhappy with the government, compared to 47 percent in 2012. Only 26 percent are pleased with the government‘s performance whereas in the former poll, about 30 percent were pleased.
