Sixteen Airlines to Fly to Iceland this Summer

A total of 16 airlines will fly to Keflavík International Airport this summer, an increase from last year. Projections are for around 15,500 passengers to pass through the airport each day during the peak season, June through August.

The airlines are: Air Berlin, Air Greenland, Austrian Airlines, Avion Express (WOW Air), Delta Air Lines, Deutsche Lufthansa, easyJet, Edelweiss Air, Germanwings, Icelandair, Niki Luftfahrt, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Primera Air Scandinavian Airlines System, Thomas Cook Airlines and Transavia.com.

The number of airlines operating during winter has also increased from three to six since last winter, visir.is reports.

According to a press release from Isavia, the company which operates the airport, there was a 21.6 percent year-over-year increase in the number of passengers in January.
