Six People Hit by Avalanche in West Fjords

Six people were hit by an avalanche in Fossdalur valley at Barðaströnd, the southern West Fjords, around 5 pm yesterday.

They were tending to sheep when the avalanche fell; it was 130 centimeters deep and approximately 100 meters wide, ruv.is reports.

Everyone was unharmed but they were carried a few meters with the avalanche and one person was buried up to his head in snow; his companions had to dig him out.
