The investigation of the major drug bust in east Iceland this fall dubbed the “Polar Star,” when 56 kilos of drugs were confiscated onboard a yacht, is completed. Six individuals were charged and their case will open in Reykjavík District Court on Friday.
One of the six is accused of having organized the drug smuggling and given projects to the others by making them pack the drugs, transport, receive and store the goods, Morgunbladid reports.
Police followed the six closely for months and found the drugs onboard the yacht in Fáskrúdsfjördur on September 20. It was the most extensive police operation of its kind in Iceland’s criminal history.
