Sirkus Íslands on the Road

Sirkus Íslands, Iceland’s only circus, has returned to the capital after visiting Vestmannaeyjar off South Iceland last weekend where 2,000 people watched its shows. The tent has been put up on Klambratún park in central Reykjavík, where three different shows will be staged July 9-12.

The three shows are: Heima er best (‘Home is where the heart is’), a grand family show; S.I.R.K.U.S., for younger spectators; and Skinnsemi (‘Skin sensibility’), a circus cabaret for adults, as described on midi.is.

Skinnsemi includes guest performances by French pole acrobat Mikael Dubois, Brazilian contortionist Paula Alvalá and New York-based adult clown Ambrose Martos, who has performed with circus cabarets La Soirée and Cirque de Soleil.

Next, Sirkus Íslands will visit the Húnavaka town festival in Blönduós, Northwest Iceland, July 16-19; Franskir dagar (‘French Days’) in Fáskrúðsfjörður, the East Fjords, July 23-26; and Síldarævintýrið (‘The Herring Adventure’) in Siglufjörður, North Iceland, July 31-August 3; before returning to Reykjavík.

August 7-23, Sirkus Íslands will stage performances in the capital.
