Single “Bing Bang” in fourth place in the UK

The single “Bing Bang” from award-winning Icelandic children’s program LazyTown reached the fourth place of the Top 40 UK Singles Charts yesterday.

Never before has an Icelandic song become so popular in the UK in its first week on the charts. Fréttabladid reports.

“Bing Bang” was written and composed by Icelandic musician Máni Svavarsson and performed by Julianna Rose Mauriello, who plays the main character in the show. Icelandic singer Margrét Eir Hjartardóttir sang back-ups.

LazyTown won a BAFTA (the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards) for best international children’s program in London on 26 November.
