U.S. film director David Gordon Green received the Silver Bear trophy as Best Director at the Berlin International Film Festival on Saturday for his English-language remake of the Icelandic comedy Either Way (Á annan veg).

The film’s Icelandic director Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson told ruv.is that he likes Green’s remake. Entitled Prince Avalanche and starring Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch, the film premiered at the Sundance Festival last month.
Hafsteinn said it had been strange to watch Green’s version. “The director has a distinctive style which is a little poetic, dreamlike in a way, and absolutely marks the content. However, the heart of the original is still very present and the story the same, but of course in a different context.”
Prince Avalanche will be distributed in the U.S. next summer.
