Sigur Rós Song in New Danny Boyle Film

The song “Hoppípolla” from Sigur Rós’ fourth studio album Takk was played in a trailer for the new Danny Boyle movie Slumdog Millionaire, based on the bestselling novel Q and A by Vikas Swarup, scheduled to premiere in the US next week.

The film features a young Indian who participates in gameshow Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? to try and reconnect with his childhood sweetheart, Morgunbladid reports.

Boyle is best known for directing Trainspotting (1996) and 28 Days Later (2002).

Sigur Rós’ songs have been played in large-scale movie productions before; “Svefn-G-Englar” from their debut album Ágaetis byrjun was played in Vanilla Sky (2001) and the last song from the band’s nameless album in The Invasion (2007).
