Sigur Rós Invites Fans to Join Valtari Film Project

By Iceland Review

Sigur Rós is inviting fans to take part in a film contest in connection with their new album Valtari. The winning film-maker will be awarded USD 5,000 (ISK 634,000, EUR 4,000) in prize money.

According to the band’s website, “the brief is completely open for entrants to take inspiration from the world around them to devise and execute a masterpiece.”

Sigur Rós earlier announced the launch of a ‘mystery film experiment,’ inviting a number of directors to create a music video for a track on the new album. The band provided each director with the same small budget. The results so far can be viewed here.

The winning fan video will also receive a place alongside the other creative artists and directors in the mystery film experiment.

Submissions are due by September 10.
