The world-famous Icelandic band Sigur Rós has not performed live or visited the US for about four years, so the recent announcement of an upcoming tour is big news.
Sigur Rós.
Sigur Rós will perform in several North American cities, including Philadelphia and Brooklyn, New York, in the end of July, and then in August in Toronto, Montreal, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles, as reported on hitfix.com.
Most of these concerts will be held in outdoor spaces, such as the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in LA, site of celebrity graves, including Johnny and Dee Dee Ramone.
The Icelandic band will head over to the Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo in mid-August (where Green Day is also on the bill) and then back to Europe, to appear in Paris; Winterthur, Switzerland; Amsterdam; and Ireland.
In September, Sigur Rós will give concerts in Italy, Austria, Germany and Poland, in addition to appearing with Stevie Wonder, The XX, Justice, New Order, and Warpaint at Bestival, on the Isle of Wight, England.
