In local sport, HK from Kópavogur had a good run over the weekend with both the men’s and women’s teams winning the Icelandic cup in volleyball. The women beat Afturelding from Mosfellsbær 3:1 while the men won against Þróttur from Reykjavík 3:0.
Snæfell from Stykkishólmur won against Valur from Reykjavík, 95:84, in the first playoff to determine who will become the Icelandic Champion in Women’s Basketball. In the second playoff, held last night, Snæfell lost 78:66 against Valur after 17 consecutive wins. Meanwhile, Haukar from Hafnarfjörður won against Keflavík 66:61.
In men’s football, Þróttur from Reykjavík won against KA from Akureyri 2:0 in the Lengjubikarinn Cup with one goal each from Andri Björn Sigurðsson and Alexander Veigar Þórarinsson. Víkingur from Ólafsvík lost to Víkingur from Reykjavík 2:3
In the women’s Lengjubikarinn Cup, Valur from Reykjavík, won against ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar 7:1 while Stjarna from Garðabær lost 1:2 to KA/Þór from Akureyri. Katrín Ásbjörnsdóttir scored both goals for KA/Þór.
