Sheep Farmer Guðmundur Wins Big in Árneshreppur

By Iceland Review

It took less than an hour to count all votes in Árneshreppur, in the West Fjords’ region of Strandir in Iceland’s local elections on the weekend. The municipality has the fewest inhabitants in the country, 47 in total.

No political parties or names were listed on the ballot; you could simply vote for anyone in Árneshreppur, Fréttablaðið reports.

Thirty-four people voted, or 72.3 percent of the population, with sheep farmer Guðmundur Ágústsson declared winner with 25 votes.
