Severe Gale Warning

A severe gale warning is in effect for North and East Iceland, as well as for the area south of Vatnajökull glacier. The Icelandic Met Office forecasts southwesterly and westerly winds of 10-23 m/sec in the country today, the strongest wind in the north and east, and in the area south of Vatnajökull glacier. Temperatures will range from 2-10˚C (36-50˚ F). There will be rain or drizzle in the west, but mostly dry in the east. Northwest 10-18 m/sec on the east coast tomorrow, but lighter wind elsewhere.

According to mbl.is, meteorologists warn travelers of strong wind gusts of up to 40 m/sec south of Vatnajökull glacier. Roads are icy in many parts of the country. Follow road conditions at road.is.
