This is among the most extensive drug smuggling cases in Iceland in the past years. The chemicals, which were mailed to Iceland from Denmark, were confiscated by customs officers, Fréttablaðið reports.
Among those charged are two Icelandic brothers in their thirties. Three other Icelanders are facing charges and two men from Lithuania, who are suspected of having taken part in organizing the drug smuggling.
A customs officer, who is related to one of the suspects, was held in custody for four weeks but is not facing charges.
The charges were announced to the suspects on Friday but it is undecided when their cases will be heard in court.
