A foreign woman is seriously injured after the vehicle she was in rolled over near Vík í Mýrdal, South Iceland, last night, Vísir reports. Her husband and child escaped with minor injuries.
The woman was transported by the Icelandic Coast Guard helicopter to Landspítali National University Hospital. The helicopter arrived at the hospital at 11 pm, after which the woman underwent an operation.
The husband and child were transported by ambulance to Reykjavík.
The cause of the accident is not known, but the woman, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out of the vehicle. The accident is being investigated by police.
