Serious Motorcycle Accident in Northwest Iceland

A serious motorcycle accident occurred on the Skagi peninsula, north of Skagaströnd, in northwest Iceland yesterday. The Icelandic Coast Guard (ICG) was alerted to the accident at 6:50 pm and brought the man, who is in his fifties, to the Landspítali hospital in Fossvogur, Reykjavík, where he underwent surgery due to head injury, mbl.is reports.

An ICG helicopter departed at 7:10 pm from Reykjavík airport and arrived at Skagi at 8:08 pm. A doctor was brought to treat and prepare the patient and due to the severity of the accident, emergency blood from the Blood Bank was brought to the scene. The man arrived at the hospital at roughly 10 pm last night.

According to ruv.is the patient is connected to a ventilator for the time being.
