Two Lithuanians have received a three-year prison sentence for smuggling four kilograms of amphetamines into Iceland. The two men arrived in a car with the ferry Norræna at Seydisfjördur and were arrested there after the drugs were discovered in a secret compartment. The men had driven from Lithuania and took the ferry from Denmark. They both refused any knowledge of the drugs in the car but the sentencing judge at the district court of eastern Iceland was certain of their guilt. The ruling can be appealed to the Supreme Court in Reykjavík.
