The walking trail behind Seljalandsfoss waterfall was reopened yesterday after being closed since Saturday due to a rockslide.
With each falling rock weighing at least hundred kilograms (220 pounds), the area was deemed unsafe until experts could remove enough rocks from the top.
Kristján Ólafsson, Chairman of the Association of Landowners at Seljalandsfoss, examined the area himself before determining the walking trail was safe once more. “We threw away some rocks although there weren’t very many at the walking trail.”
Although the trail was closed, there have still been plenty of tourists about. “People were very happy once we reopened the walking trail.”
