Non-profit NGO SEEDS opened an exhibition at Gallery Tukt at Hitt húsid youth center in Reykjavík last weekend, displaying pictures taken by its volunteers during a photo marathon, and it will run for another week.
“For the sixth time, the Icelandic organisation SEEDS has invited volunteers from all over the world to the city of Reykjavík. Through their photography, the project aims to deliver strong messages and draw attention to Iceland and Icelanders,” a press release states.
In the course of two weeks, 17 volunteers from ten countries (Bulgaria, Czech
Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Israel, Korea, Russia, Slovakia and Spain) photographed Reykjavík and its surroundings.
Each day, the volunteers received instruction in photographic theory, from street and city photography to that of water, nature, composition and light. New topics were introduced each day, along with environmental activities to encourage open-mindedness and to raise awareness of the world around us.
Since its foundation in 2005, SEEDS has grown into an organization hosting about 900 volunteers in around 85 projects all around Iceland.
Hitt húsid is located on Pósthússtraeti 3-5.
