Search for Icelander in Denmark Called Off

Search for 20-year-old Þorleifur Kristínarson, an Icelandic citizen who has been missing in Denmark since Saturday morning, has been called off, according to information from the North Jutland police.

A CCTV camera from the harbor in Frederikshavn shows a man, who is believed to be Þorleifur, climb across a security fence. The police assume he fell into the ocean, mbl.is reports.

His body has been searched for on boats equipped with a radar but the search parties haven’t found anything. There are strong currents in the area, which is frequented by boats and ships.

The police believe there is no chance of finding Þorleifur alive and the search has formally been called off.
