Search for French Traveler Ongoing

The search continues for a Frenchwoman who was reported missing yesterday, RÚV reports. Police are seeking to locate Louise Soreda, a French tourist who hasn’t been heard from since she arrived in Iceland last Thursday, June 5.

It is now known that Louise stayed for two nights at a hotel in Reykjavík, where she was photographed by security cameras in the company of a man who was dressed for the outdoors. Louise herself was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white sweater, and brown hiking boots and was carrying a large red backpack and rolled-up light grey sleeping pad. It hasn’t been possible to trace her cell phone because it has been turned off.

Since first asking for information about Louise’s whereabouts yesterday, the Police in Suðurnes in South Iceland have received a number of helpful tips. Detective Jón Halldór Sigurðsson believes the couple will soon be located without needing to call out Search and Rescue teams.

However, anyone who has useful information about Louise and her travelling companion can be in touch with the Suðurnes Police at 444-2200.

UPDATE: Louise has been found, in good health.
