Scottish Day Held in Iceland

The Scottish community in Reykjavík, along with Kaffi Rót, is hosting a Scottish Day at Kaffi Rót on Saturday, June 6. The event is partly organized to celebrate the 250th birthday of Robert Burns, the Scottish national poet.

The program begins with “A Taste of Scotland” at 4 pm followed by piper Eevastiina Korri playing the Great Highland bagpipes. Next Elaine McCrorie will have a reading of Burns’s poetry in the Scots language and Pauline McCarthy will sing Scots songs.

At 6 pm everyone is encouraged to participate in Ceilidh dancing to live music. No experience or partners are required—Kate and Iveta from Ceilidh in Reykjavík will provide beginners with instructions.

Admission is free and Kaffi Rót will be selling coffees, teas and cakes.
