Rescue services have been busy around the country since last night, due to extreme weather, particularly in the northern parts. According to public relations officer, Davíð Már Bjarnason, over 30 people were hard at work in the snowstorm.
In the town of Akureyri, and other nearby regions in the north, rescue services have mainly been assisting stuck cars and workers. All schools and kindergartens in Akureyri are currently closed down.
The weather has also been affecting East Iceland, with rescue workers currently locating horses outside of Egilsstaðir.
Police warn that travelling out in the country today can be dangerous.
