School for Children of Asylum Seekers

Fifteen children of asylum seekers in three municipalities, who due to a mistake by the Directorate of Immigration had not been admitted to school, have now been granted admission, RÚV reports. It was initially reported that 17 children were without schooling, but the Directorate of Immigration has corrected that number to 15.

Five of the children now attend school in Reykjavík, three of them since last Friday and two since Monday this week. Six children will be attending school in Reykjanesbær. One of them begins Monday and the other five once housing has been provided for their family, which is expected to be next week. Finally, four children will start school in Hafnarfjörður tomorrow.
