Samskip supports Lay Low

By Iceland Review

Icelandic transport company Samskip announced last weekend it would support up-and-coming Icelandic singer Lovísa Elísabet Sigrúnardóttir, aka Lay Low, in foreign music markets for the next two years.

“Together we will be successful because we have a lot of experience of invasion into foreign markets and we know that it is good to have support,” Samskip director Ásbjörn Gíslason said at a party last weekend Samskip held for its employers, Fréttabladid supplement Markadurinn reports.

Lay Low’s popularity in Iceland has grown steadily and the singer-songwriter won awards in three categories at the Icelandic Music Awards in January.

Lay Low is scheduled to perform for the first time in the US between May 27 and June 9, both in Los Angeles and New York. This week she will play at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton, England.

In September the artist is booked for the Popkomm Festival in Berlin, Germany, and in October she returns to New York. A week-long tour in the UK is planned for November.
