Sales of Icelandic Vegetables Increase

Sales of Icelandic vegetables are at a record high according to managing director of The Marketing Association of Horticultural Producers (Sölufélag garðyrkjumanna) Gunnlaugur Karlsson. “I have never seen such sales as now in May,” he told mbl.is.

Gunnlaugur says that there has been an increased awareness on product origin as well as demand for information on packaging.

Farmers in Auðholt are currently packing the final carrots from last summer’s harvest. According to carrot farmer Ásdís Bjarnadóttir, never before have carrots been preserved for so long.
