Sabotage in Hafnarfjördur

Three teenage boys, ages 15 to 17, have confessed to vandalizing about 30 vehicles in Hafnarfjördur, outside Reykjavík, and breaking windows in several buildings on Wednesday night.

Windshields were smashed, cars were dented and scratched and in some cases iron poles had been driven through car doors and hoods. Windows in houses, sheds and stables were broken. Fréttabladid reports.

The damage is believed to be worth ISK tens of millions (ISK 10 million equals EUR 113,000 and USD 148,000).

The sabotage took place in various sections of Hafnarfjördur, and the boys are believed to have driven a stolen vehicle. Their intention with the sabotage is unclear.

The three boys are in custody and were questioned yesterday evening.
