Swedish film director Ruben Östlund will be a guest of honor at this year’s Reykjavík International Film Festival (RIFF), which starts on Thursday.
Östlund’s 2004 film The Guitar Mongoloid won the FIPRESCI Award at the 27th Moscow Film Festival and his short film Incident by a Bank won the Golden Bear at the 60th Berlin Film Festival and Grand Prix at Tampere Film Festival in 2011.
His 2014 film Force Majeure, which will be screened at RIFF, was selected to compete in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival where it won the Jury Prize.
