The rose is a unification symbol for children in Iceland and all around the world and is meant to be a place where children can assemble and remind people of their rights and pay tribute to children who have lost their lives to diseases, abuse, accidents and war, Morgunbladid reports.
Representatives of Save the Children Iceland Youth Council, Diljá Helgadóttir and Saerún Erla Baldursdóttir, unveiled the memorial with assistance from former President of Iceland Vigdís Finnbogadóttir.
Chairman of Save the Children Iceland Helgi Ágústsson is among those who spoke during the ceremony.
