Few things are more Icelandic than rúllupylsa (rolled sausage). Last weekend the second Icelandic Championships in Rolled Sausage Making took place, strandir.is reports.

The winner: Hafdís Sturlaugsdóttir and Matthías Lýðsson from a farm near Húsavík with their entry Fjalladrottningin (‘the mountain queen’).
The pair, who also won in 2012, used wild mountain herbs from the area to give the winning rúllupylsa its unique taste.
More than 100 people attended the championship, which who was held at Sauðfjársetur, the sheep museum near Hólmavík in Iceland’s Strandir region, the West Fjords, in cooperation with Slow Food Iceland.
