Reykjavík District Court sentenced Grzegorz Marcin Novak and Pawel Jerzy Podburaczynski to five years in prison yesterday for having violently attacked and threatened the staff of jewelry and watchmaker store Michelsen in Reykjavík before robbing it in October 2011.

Reykjavík District Court.

Marcin Tomasz Lech had already been given a five-year prison sentence for having been party to the robbery. The three men and their fourth accomplice are known as “The Rolex Raiders” in the media, Morgunblaðið reports.

The verdict stated that Novak and Podburaczynski had confessed to having participated in the robbery but refused to comment on the operation’s planning and funding.

However, according to Lech’s statements, they traveled from Poland to Iceland specifically to rob the store.

Novak and Podburaczynski are also to pay the insurance company VÍS ISK 14.1 million (USD 111,000, EUR 89,000) with interests because of the watches they stole.
