Rokland Crew Begins Shooting in North Iceland

The shooting of a new Icelandic feature film, Rokland, based on the 2005 novel by Hallgrímur Helgason by the same name, is set to begin in Saudárkrókur, northwest Iceland, on July 21.

The film is directed by Marteinn Thórsson, who also wrote the screenplay. Ólafur Darri Ólafsson will star as the blogger Böddi and Elma Lísa Gunnarsdóttir plays the lead female role, Böddi’s lover Dagga, Fréttabladid reports.

Established Icelandic actors such as Ingvar E. Sigurdsson, Thröstur Leó Gunnarsson, Steinn Ármann Magnússon and Víkingur Kristjánsson will play supporting roles.

Another Icelandic film, Laxdaela Lárusar, also started shooting this month.
