Rice Expresses Concern over Iceland’s Crisis

The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice expressed her concern over the situation of the Icelandic economy in a phone conversation with Iceland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir on Tuesday.

According to Morgunbladid, Gísladóttir talked about the status of the crisis with her American counterpart and possible solutions to the problem, which the Icelandic government is working on.

Rice said she was going to discuss the matter with her colleagues in the US government.

Gísladóttir also described Iceland’s attitude towards the reactions of other nations to the collapse of the Icelandic banking system, including Britain, and then outlined possible effects that the Icelandic crisis could have on the world economy.
