The men are all in their thirties and of Polish origin and are believed to have come to Iceland specifically to carry out the robbery. There is no evidence that they had any previous connection with Iceland, Morgunbladid reports.

They left for Denmark early the following day but their whereabouts are now unknown. Their accomplice was arrested in Iceland last week and has been sentenced to custody until November 10. The loot was found in his car.

Hördur Jóhannesson, assistant police chief in Reykjavík, said no new information has been obtained in relation to the case and it is uncertain when Interpol’s publication will deliver results. He wouldn’t comment on the suspects’ criminal histories.

Among the aspects that are under investigation in the case is whether these men may also have been responsible for similar robberies of watches in other European countries.
