Summer seemed to have arrived in Iceland’s capital yesterday as the sun shone the entire day and the temperature rose to 17°C (63°F) at noon. Capital residents welcomed the weather with various outdoor activities.

The pools were crowded with people basking in the sun, as was Austurvöllur, the green square in front of the parliament. Café-goers enjoyed their beverages outside and long queues formed outside every ice cream shop, ruv.is reports.
It was hard to imagine that only one week ago the ground in Reykjavík was covered with 16 centimeters of snow and outdoor football matches had to be postponed or relocated as a result.
