Reykjavík Readies Itself for Snoop Dogg Party

Snoop Dogg, the American rapping superstar, arrives in Iceland today for his gig at Laugardalshöllin this evening, under the name of DJ Snoopadelic. His list of demands has been leaked to the media and contains a few surprises.

Snoop’s ‘rider’ calls for four bottles of ice-cold Moët Rosé champagne, two bottles of ice-cold Ciroc vodka, two bottles of ice-cold Patrón tequila and two bottles of Hennessey XO cognac. All bottles shall be no less than 750 ml.

Snoop also needs 24 bottles of ice-cold Red Bull, 36 bottles of premium beer and 24 bottles of ice-cold water—as well as a variety of fruit juices.

When it comes to dining, Snoop needs deep fried chicken most importantly of all. In addition to this, he must have two other dishes; usually fried fish, BBQ ribs, lasagna or beef.

Six packs of Marlboro Lights and brand new clean, white towels must also be on hand.

“One of his men came to Iceland on Monday on a recce. Snoop sends people ahead of him to check that everything really is good enough and that everything is in place,” Kristinn Bjarnason, one of the concert organizers, told Vísir—refusing to comment further on the star’s demands.

Snoop will land sometime today in his private jet and, upon arrival, his rider states he does not want limousines anywhere in sight. Instead he will only consent to traveling in an extra-large black Mercedes Vito luxury van.

Unlike in previous tours when Snoop has said he needs gaming consoles like PlayStation or Xbox on hand, this time he has made no such demands.

Laugardalshöllin has been changed into a cavernous nightclub for Snoop’s three-hour party tonight.

“A crazy sound system has been installed, and lighting the likes of which has never been used in Laugardalshöllin before. It is going to be the hip-hop party of the summer, truly world class, and an event nobody should miss,” Kristinn enthuses.

Snoop Dogg will be joined by Iceland’s domestic hip hop superstars, Blaz Roca, Úlfur Úlfur, DJ Benni B-Ruff, Shades of Reykjavík and KSF with Alvia Islandia.
