The museum, which is housed on the six floor of the Reykjavík library on Tryggvagata 15, has a collection of around five million images, dating back to 1870.

Other museums to make the list include the National Museum in Copenhagen, Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nice and Florence Nightingale Museum in Istanbul.
