Reykjavík Misses Out on Hosting World Outgames

Reykjavík has missed out on hosting the World Outgames 2017. The games will be held in Miami Beach instead, as decided at a meeting of GLISA (Gay and Lesbian International Sports Association) in Antwerp yesterday evening.

The decision was made after electronic voting on the two cities by around 100 members of GLISA.

Mayor of Reykjavík Jón Gnarr congratulated Miami and said that Reykjavík had benefited from the exposure during the campaign, opening doors for Reykjavík as an events location in the future, as stated in a press release.

World Outgames is a ten-day sports and cultural festival hosted by the international gay community every four years.
