Mayor of Reykjavík Jón Gnarr has confirmed that he will run for parliament in the election next spring. He announced his candidacy for the fifth seat for the Reykjavík North Constituency representing Björt framtíð, mbl.is reports.

On Tuesday he announced that he was considering the move via an open Q&A session on reddit.com. “I have thought about it a lot. I actually believe I might make a good prime minister,” Jón said.
Several members of Jón’s party, the Best Party, are also running under the name Björt framtíð in the 2013 parliamentary election.
