Reykjavík Mayor Dagur B. Eggertsson says coalition talks are going well, Vísir reports. Dagur chairs the Social Democratic Alliance which is now in negotiations with the Pirate Party, Left-Green Movement, and the Reform Party to form a government which would have a narrow majority of 12 seats out of 23 on Reykjavík’s City Council.
Prior to the election, the Social Democratic Alliance led a four-party coalition in the capital alongside the Pirate Party, Left-Green Movement, and Bright Future, the last of which did not run in this election.
Dagur told Vísir there is no official deadline for the talks, and that the parties are going over key issues and building common ground. “We’ve been optimistic since the very beginning and there’s a good atmosphere here, fun and lots of laughs,” Dagur said.
