Reykjavík Mayor Accepts Airport Petition

Campaign group Hjartað í Vatnsmýri presented Mayor of Reykjavík Jón Gnarr today with more than 69,000 signatures from people who are against relocating Reykjavík Domestic Airport.

The people who signed the petition urge city authorities to secure the airport’s permanent location in Vatnsmýri in the heart of the capital, ruv.is reports.

“Now that the deadline for remarks on the new general land use plan for Reykjavík is up, they will enter a certain procedure where they will be considered, reviewed and evaluated. Then they will be responded to and I don’t expect that to take much time,” Jón said upon accepting the petition.
