Reykjavík Live Music Festival Kicks Off

The first music festival this summer, Reykjavík Live, kicks off with concerts in the center of Iceland’s capital tonight and will carry on through May 20. The venues are Gamli Gaukurinn, Glaumbar, Prikið and Frú Berlaug.

Festival goers can choose between more than 50 performances by both domestic and foreign musicians, including Retro Stefson, Legend, Emmsjé Gauti, Reykjavík! and Þórunn Antónía, mbl.is reports. For tickets and other events, go to midi.is.

If you miss the festival or it leaves you hungry for more, the independent music festival Reykjavík Music Mess will be held for the second time during the weekend of May 25-27 in downtown Reykjavík, as stated on midi.is.

In other festival news, the tenth Reykjavík Shorts&Docs Festival, which ran from May 6 to 9, was considered a great success and now Bíó Paradís is programming three of the festival’s biggest titles, Town of Runners, Afterglow and The Price of Sex to run at the cinema from May 18 to 23.

Also, the festival is now “on the road” with the tour commencing in Höfn on May 12 and heading to two or three more small towns across the country over the coming months.
