Reykjavík Literary Festival Announces Lineup

The lineup for the 2015 Reykjavík International Literary Festival, held September 9-12, was announced this week, including international authors Dave Eggers (U.S.), Stine Pilgaard (Denmark), Teju Cole (Nigeria/U.S.) and Ana Maria Shua (Argentina).

Among participating domestic authors are comedian and former Mayor of Reykjavík Jón Gnarr, crime writer Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, author and environmental activist Andri Snær Magnason and cook book author and food historian Nanna Rögnvaldardóttir.

Authors Vilborg Davíðsdóttir and Bergsveinn Birgisson, whose books about historical figures Auður Djúpúðga and Geirmundur Heljarskinn, respectively, were covered in recent issues of Iceland Review, will also take part in the festival.

The topics featured this year range from the ethical dilemmas of WWII writing, to the future of the environment, to women, love and the narrative. “The team has been working around the clock to bring you a jam-packed schedule of literary delights,” the festival’s organizers promise.
