The origins of the Reykjavík Jazz Festival can be traced back to the Nordic Jazz Days in Reykjavík in 1990 and therefore the festival celebrates its 20th anniversary this year with a 20-day program, stretching from August 13 to September 1.
The program includes up to 50 events, everything between solo-recitals and big band blowouts. This year the festival seeks to reestablish contact with Nordic jazzists and musicians from France, Austria and the US.
Among bands and musicians who will perform during the festival are K Trio, Hilmar Jensson, Jim Black, Björn Thoroddsen and Jagúar. The festival also includes jazz quizzes, music workshops and lectures, Iceland Music Export states.
