Special emphasis will be placed on environmental issues in this year’s Reykjavík International Film Festival (RIFF), which takes place September 25 to October 5 with a new documentary film category called “world.changes.”
Also, before the screening of every film at RIFF, environmentally-focused short films will be shown in cooperation with the Lincoln Center of New York.
From the film In Search of a Legend (2007, Polland).
Organizers stated that this year’s festival will be kept as environmentally-friendly as possible, for example by not using disposable paper cups at the cinemas.
In connection with the new green category there will be an open forum to discuss the state of pertinent environmental issues. It is part of RIFF’s vision that the festival should not only screen films, but also use film as a medium for greater influence.
