Ahús, the Intercultural Center in Reykjavík, is advertising for new facilities. According to the center’s information officer Helga Ólafsdóttir, the current headquarters of Ahús on Hverfisgata 18 in central Reykjavík became too small a long time ago.
“The operations of Ahús have grown extensively for the past few years and staff is constantly increasing,” Ólafsdóttir told 24 Stundir.
Ólafsdóttir said Ahús had not found new facilities for their operations yet, but the new center will be located in downtown Reykjavík like the current one. “It is very important for us to be centrally located, for example to be near the main bus routes.”
Café Cultura, which is currently located on Hverfisgata 18 like Ahús, will not move with the intercultural center. Ólafsdóttir explained the café is operated independently, adding it had not been decided whether there will be a café in Ahús’ new headquarters.
