Reykjavík High School (MR) won the national high school quiz “Gettu betur” Friday night. MR beat Kópavogur High School (MK) in sudden death after a very even and exciting competition.
When only one question was left, MK led by three points. MR gave the right answer and since the question was worth three points they evened the score, prompting a sudden death to determine the winner, Fréttabladid reports.
MR answered the next two questions correctly and secured the trophy for the 13th time. MR has won the quiz more often than any other school in Iceland. Akureyri High School (MA) comes in next with three times.
“Gettu betur” has been organized and broadcast by RÚV radio and television since 1986. The preliminary round is broadcast on live radio and the final round on television. This year 29 high schools competed.
