Reykjavík to Get White Christmas?

Iceland might get a white Christmas after all, it seems. The current forecast for Christmas Day is for between -2ºC and -5ºC (28 and 23ºF) and snow in Reykjavík but snow-free on Christmas Eve.

In Akureyri, North Iceland, snow is forecast for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and temperatures of between -3ºC and -9ºC (26.6ºF-15.8ºF). Snow is also forecast for Egilsstaðir, East Iceland, and temperatures of -4ºC to -15ºC (24.8-5ºF).

On Wednesday, it was reported that meteorologists could not predict with any certainty whether Christmas in Iceland would be ‘white’ or ‘red’ as there was uncertainty in the charts.

In the past 18 years, the capital has in 56 percent of cases been graced with a cover of snow in the morning of Christmas Day.
