Reykjavík to Get Hottest Day of the Year

The temperature in Iceland’s capital today is set to soar to a balmy 20ºC (68ºF) and 22ºC (71.6ºF) in other parts of the southwestern corner of the country, the warmest in Reykjavík so far this year.

According to Óttarr Hrafnkelsson, divisional manager at Siglunes Watersports Center at Nauthólsvík geothermal beach in Reykjavík, if past warm summer days are anything to go by, between 3,000 and 5,000 people are expected to head to the beach today.

“We expect the beach to be lively and full of action. It is open until 7 pm, sea, sand, hot tubs, steam bath and a good atmosphere,” Óttarr said in an interview with mbl.is.
