Reykjavík Fully Booked in ‘Off Season’

Nearly all hotels in Reykjavík are currently booked out in what was until not long ago an unpopular time to visit Iceland. According to managing director of Sónar music festival Björn Steinbekk, there have been problems trying to find accommodation for journalists traveling to Reykjavík for the festival, which starts on Thursday, despite having booked long in advance, Nútíminn reports.

“There are many journalists who we would have wanted to have but who can’t come,” Björn said. “This is so funny. We started with Sónar at this time of year because it was the quietest time of year in the tourism industry but now all the hotels are full. But that is of course fabulous news.”

Around 1,700 people are expected to travel to Iceland for Sónar.
